General FAQ About Staying At Rivendell

How to I secure my reservation?

A 50% deposit by check, Mastercard, Visa, or a direct bank draft (via a secure link in the invoice) secures your reserved dates. Your balance is due 30 days before arrival.

What if I have to cancel?

Deposits minus a $100 cancellation fee are returned for cancellations 60 days out. Less than 60 days out, all payments will be retained unless Rest Inn Rivendell is able to resell all or some of the nights, in which case Rivendell will return resold night fees back to you.

I'd like to reserve Rivendell for my group. How many can I bring?

The home sleeps 20 comfortably, which is the maximum number Rivendell can have overnight in compliance with our vacation rental county permit.

Is Rivendell a good match for staff retreats? Reunions? Vacations?

Yes, yes, and yes! So far the only requests we have received that were not great matches for Rivendell were for a tween boys' baseball team (obvious) and weddings (Rivendell cannot host live or amplified outdoor music per county permit). Rivendell is ideal for groups of all sizes with space to rest, land to roam, and a view to inspire even the weariest of minds.

Is the dock useable? Can we swim in the lake?

Bring or rent a boat at Scotty's Boat Dock on Branson Landing and enjoy our dock! Lake Taneycomo is a cold (as in brrrrrr) water lake that's great for fishing but not designed for swimming or water sports. If you rent a boat, you'll see kids at camps swimming and my kids splash around in the shallows on hot days. But the lake at its greatest depth is only 50' and there are many trees and branches that make jumping in from the dock prohibited. So, can you swim? With care and without jumping in, yes. Will it be warm? Never. :-)

What are the guidelines for the use of the home?

Have fun and rest well! Without...amplified outside music, loud parties, smoking, or pets. :-)

How did the Choles decide on the theme and decor of the home?

Over the last 20+ years, we have given each other a monthly gift of a 24-hour prayer retreat. Often we have spent those refreshing hours at a monastery or solitude with a cot, school desk, and kitchen chair - the simplicity helped us focus on God. So when we started to design and decorate Rest Inn Rivendell, we assumed that it would also be simple and plain. But immediately we felt something different in our hearts, something that remained throughout each of the hundreds of hours spent waiting and listening and researching and purchasing pieces for the home from China to the local newspaper and thrift stores to ebay: God wanted to pour out His Kingly love upon His people! Instead of remaining bare, the walls were to be filled with inspiring art. Instead of plain decor, each room was to reflect God's creative beauty. As you walk through and rest within the home, our prayer is that each space will echo God's loving attention to every detail in your life.

Where's the nearest airport?

The nearest airport, Branson Airport (BKG), is 17 miles from Rivendell. The largest airport near Rivendell, Springfield-Branson International Airport (SGF), is 60 miles from Rivendell.

What time is check-in? Checkout?

It takes the cleaning team six hours to clean Rivendell. Therefore, check-in is 4pm and check-out is 10am.

What activities are nearby?

So many! From hiking to horseback riding, extravagant shows to trout fishing, the Titanic Museum to golfing, Silver Dollar City to the Butterfly Palace, waterparks and walking trails... and just about anything else you can imagine.

What is the nearest medical facility?

Cox Medical Center is 7 miles from Rivendell and has excellent urgent and emergency care.

What is the minimum and maximum number of nights that can be reserved?

With the exception of January and February (which have two-night minimums), three-nights is the shortest stay and there is no maximum stay.

How can I invest in the ministry at Rest Inn Rivendell?

What a wonderful question!! There are two options. If you would like a tax-deductible receipt, you can donate to our mentoring 501(c)(3) via www.leadershipii.com. If you want to invest directly in the home, please visit Rivendell's sponsorship page to consider sponsoring a room in the name of a loved one, favorite verse, or cherished cause. Thank you for your prayers and gifts. This is an enormous faith venture for us and your partnership in intercession and finances is a specific answer to our prayers. We long to celebrate the day when the prayer home's mortgages are all paid off!

#2: Opt in to the prayer retreat emails and reserve an individual room during announced prayer windows. Sorry guys, this option is for women only.

Are there any requirements for reserving a prayer retreat room other than payment and signing the contract?

For the safety and comfort of other guests, all individuals desiring to reserve a prayer retreat room will need to a submit one reference who knows you well AND knows Barry, Alicia, or one of their team staff members. Once the reference is in, you will receive a rental agreement, guidelines, and liability release to sign and return to Alicia's office. Then, just before your arrival, we will email you directions to the house and alarm codes.

Are Barry and Alicia involved in the prayer retreats?

The Choles only participate in the Guided Prayer Retreats hosted by www.leadershipii.com. There are six prayer rooms. Will men and women be there for prayer retreats at the same time?

Nope. For individual prayer room reservations, the house will be filled with either all men or all women. For example, if prayer dates open up and the first reservation is for a woman then, for that time period, all the other prayer rooms will only be available for women.

On my prayer retreat, I'll have my own bedroom. But am I free to explore the rest of the home and grounds?

With the exception of closed bedrooms, yes! In addition to your private room, enjoy walking in the woods, reading by the fireplace, relaxing in the hot tub, gazing at the original 7' masterpiece in the living room, watching the sunset on one of the back decks, or awaiting the sunrise in a front porch cedar rocking chair.

For prayer retreats, can a friend and I share a room?

All rooms are limited to a one-person occupancy to protect the quiet, prayerful atmosphere of the home with one exception: for an additional $35/night fee, Restoration may house two prayer guests since there are two private living/sleeping spaces.

Do I need to bring linens and food for my prayer retreat?

Linens are provided and a washer/dryer is available. Regarding food, guests will share the kitchen and cook their meals at their leisure. A wonderful grocery store, SunFest, is less than four miles away.

For prayer retreat, what are my checkout responsibilities?

These will be detailed in your agreement but they include putting your sheets in the pillowcase, taking out your trash, and running the dishwasher.
